I think that when I tell you my hands hurt you know the fishing was good on the Chi today. We caught up with Marc Doiron who took some time away from his new store in Miramichi City to fish with us. This morning was as nice as you could ask for and the fishing was great. We idled down the channel and watched the Lowrance units for schools of fish. Find them and catch them. The incoming tide started not long after we got there and there was wave after wave of Stripers moving up with the tide.
Marc caught most of his on a Savage Gear Sand eel and I got most of mine on a Zoom Super Fluke. The fish were tight to the bottom and a lot of the guys trolling were not getting down to the fish...

Saint John River

We have lost some of the shows from the site for some reason so I am reposting them.

Shawn has pretty much tied up the special program he has been working on for the last few weeks so we are back on the water for show four of our ninth season on Rogers TV NB.
Our guests today are Chantal and her son Sebastien. The fishing has been off a bit but we managed to put some nice Smallmouth Bass in the boat. We had an absolutely gorgeous day to film and the heat didn’t really start to cook us until we got back to the ramp.
Chantal went after the multi species prize with a combination of Bass, Yellow Perch, White Perch , Chain Pickerel and a Sun Fish. Pretty sure she had not caught any of them before so a nice experience for her...

20180711_102327Fishing Smallmouth Bass with Adam Foster of Strike Back Sport Fishing Adventures.
Some days are diamonds and some days are stones and today was definitely a diamond kind of day for fishing. We started off fishing a shallow flat that ran from two feet in the rocks and boulders out to about seven feet of mixed rock, sand and grass. We picked up fish on in-line spinners, tubes and Adam’s Ned rig but we were not getting the size we were looking for so further down the lake we go. As is typical for New Brunswick lakes this one is not charted and going slow and keeping an eye on the Lowrance was the best way to keep the Evinrude lower unit in one piece.
Stop two was on a sharp bank that dropped very quickly into forty feet of water...

I always enjoy getting out on the boat, catching a few fish and taking in the beautiful scenery and wildlife we have here in New Brunswick but some days are extra special. Today was one of those days when the fun level got bumped up a bunch thanks to our guest Ethan who is ten. The young man is already well on his way to being an accomplished angler and I knew from his first cast that he could handle a rod.
We actually had two days out with Mike and Ethan, not because we weren’t on fish the first time but because the camera got dunked in the lake and we know what happens when you mix power and water. We had already made the trek to the lake so it turned into a fishing day and despite high winds all day we managed to put a good many fish into the boat...

Andrew Oliver on the water.

We had a chance to get out for a show with Lucky Strike pro staffer, Andrew Oliver and had a great day. The weather actually cooperated and we put 44 fish in the boat including four doubles. It has been a while since Andrew and I got to share a boat and it was fun catching up, the catching was fun too.
Andrew brought along a pair of Bolle sunglasses for me to try out and a Lucky Strike B4 Basket net which we also tried out for the day. It has rubber coated mesh so it is easy to get the hooks out as well as a telescopic handle when you need a little more reach. This would be an ideal net for kayak and canoe fishing because it takes up so little space and it would be an ideal backup net to throw in a rod locker for those days we forget or lose a net...

Offshore, Stuart Florida

Had the chance to fill in an extra spot on a charter with Daymaker and jumped at that. I fished with Leo and his son Josh and a Daymaker regular, Gracie. We started off the day fishing for bait which seemed a bit hard to come by but Captain Pat put us right on top of them and we got what we needed to go looking for some bigger stuff.
We spent some time trying to get a birthday Cobia for Gracie but foul hooked a shark and maybe had a Cobia on for a minute but it pulled off. The Cobia quite often hang out around the sharks and a lot of the guys chum to get the sharks to come in and hope some Cobia come with them.
We spent some time bottom fishing for supper and got a variety of fish that I can only identify some of but several varieties of Snapper and some Sea Bass.
The sea was kicking up...

Spednic Lake with Mike Milburn

This week is the redo of the show we tried a couple of weeks ago with Mike. Forecast is for wind up to 30k again today so we are taking the Triton which will be much better to fish from if it gets bumpy. We also changed lakes because it was doubtful we could get the big boat off the trailer where we were last trip.
Water is down about two feet from normal so we started on the outside edge of a big flat figuring the fish would move there with the falling water. That didn’t work out too well for us with only a couple of fish to the boat although one was the biggest Chain Pickerel that Mike had ever caught.
This lake is very rocky and uncharted but we used the map function on the Lowrance HDS 9 to follow the line for the border which was the original river channel...

Brandon Brewer on Backwater Casting

What a fantastic day to be out on the water. Shawn and I headed to Woodstock for a day on the water with two time Canadian Light Middleweight Boxing Champion, Brandon Brewer, from Nackawic, NB.
In between catching some nice smallmouth we peppered Brandon with questions on boxing and his new promotional business promoting MMA matches. His first one as a promoter comes up at the Aitken center on Oct. 21.
We caught fish off and on all day on a variety of baits. Brandon got a bunch early on a tube and some later on a Blue Fox inline spinner. I picked some up on a Jackall Squad Minnow, tube and a Strike King spinnerbait. They were hungry and if you put it in front of them they would eat it...
